Frequently asked
questions

Who is Kenny Dobbs?

A professional dunker, event host and motivational speaker from Phoenix, Arizona, and an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He is known as The Dunk Inventor and describes himself as Director of Ballislife and an International Slam Dunk Champion.

Did he win the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest?

Not the national title. The NBA's own press release of 9 February 2011 lists him as one of four finalists in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown at NBA All-Star Jam Session in Los Angeles, having won the semifinal in his hometown of Phoenix. He won the national final the following year, in Orlando on 24 February 2012, with a blindfolded between-the-legs dunk over two people, in front of judges LeBron James and J. Cole.

Is he actually Choctaw?

Yes. ICT described him in 2011 as a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and again in 2013 as an enrolled member; Tulalip News (2015) and SAY Magazine (2016) both report the same. He has toured reservations across the country speaking to and performing for Native youth, and has been an ambassador for Nike N7 and the NABI Foundation.

What does he do at Ballislife?

His Instagram and X bios both read “Director of @BALLISLIFE”, and his YouTube channel says he spent years producing content for Ballislife before starting his own channel. Ballislife publishes no staff page, so the scope of the role is not documented publicly.

Does he speak as well as dunk?

Yes — that is a large part of the work. He served three years as chairman of the Arizona State Youth Advisory Council for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention, founded the UpRise Youth Movement, and speaks at school assemblies and community events on substance abuse, anti-bullying, dropout prevention, gang prevention and suicide prevention. Two speaker bureaus carry him for paid engagements.

How much does he cost to book?

He publishes no rate card. NOPAC Talent lists a fee range of $5,000–$10,000 and Athlete Speakers lists “Under $10,000” — both are the bureaus' published ranges for speaking, not his own quote and not a dunk-show price. No price for a dunk show, hosting slot or appearance is published anywhere, so none is estimated here.

How do I book him?

Directly, by email to KennyDobbsEvents@gmail.com — the address he publishes in his own Instagram bio — or through one of the speaker bureaus listed on the contact page. There is no booking form and no checkout; nothing is sold on this site.

Does he have a website or a shop?

No. kennydobbs.com no longer resolves and its last archived copy, from December 2024, said only “Coming Soon”. Kenny Dobbs t-shirts were given away at a 2015 Tulalip event, but no shop, product or price could be verified anywhere, so none is listed here.
