Professional dunker, event host and motivational speaker — and the man who won a national dunk title blindfolded.
Kenny Dobbs is a professional dunker, event host and motivational speaker from Phoenix, Arizona, and an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. His own bios describe him as Director of Ballislife, an International Slam Dunk Champion and an Event Coordinator x Host MC.
He has said he has played professionally since 2008. He travelled the world as a celebrity dunker for the NBA and Sprite; in May 2011 he won Ball Up's Air Up There dunk contest in Los Angeles in front of judges including Julius Erving and Cedric Ceballos; in February 2012 he won the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown national final in Orlando. In 2012 he was drafted by the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League.
The other half of the work is the talking. He served three years as chairman of the Arizona State Youth Advisory Council for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention and worked for the state's Division of Behavioral Health Services. He has been an ambassador for Nike N7 and the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) Foundation, and with NABI he created the UpRise youth motivational presentations for Native lands.
His date of birth is not published. The NBA listed him as 25 in February 2011 and SAY Magazine as 30 in August 2016, which both point to a 1985–86 birth year; a 2011 ICT profile said 27, which does not reconcile with either.
